Child Health Task Force Webinar: Returning to School Safely
Please join the Implementation Science subgroup of the Child Health Task Force for the next session in our child health and COVID-19 webinar series. Presenters will share evidence on the effects of pandemic-related school closures on child and adolescent health and access to services in sub-Saharan Africa, as well as reflect on reopening schools safely. The first presentation will discuss disruptions in education, poor access to adolescent, sexual and reproductive health and mental health services during COVID-19 lockdowns. The African Research Implementation Science and Education (ARISE) Network will then present findings from longitudinal studies in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia and Nigeria assessing practices for COVID-19 prevention in adolescents. Finally, the Edo State Ministry of Education, Nigeria and The State COVID-19 Team will share their plans for reopening schools at primary, secondary and tertiary levels. The presentation will include a discussion of implementation and challenges to reopening, including differences in access to education and mental health care. A question and answer session will follow the presentations.
