Hello, Bistra Zheleva, Children’s HeartLink. I normally don’t attend this group’s meetings but was interested in hearing what the goals were and if there will be any potential discussions about needs of children with NCDs.

Good morning/afternoon, Alison Greig, Technical Director, Global Technical Services (GTS), Nutrition International (NI) - based in Ottawa Canada. NI supports governments to scale up zinc/ORS to treat childhood diarhhoea, as well as other nutrition commodities delivered through the health system (VAS, MNP etc)

41:51
Anne Detjen, UNICEF HQ Child and Community Health unit

43:21
Thank you for joining again, @ Bistra looking for ideas on addressing commodities for NCDs as countries struggle to meet the basics. Your experience will be relevant to this discussion.

45:59
Greetings, Keith Mugarura, Senior Medical Adviser, Adam Smith International

46:10
Is there a list of priority child health commodities this group focuses on?

52:21
Not seeing a poll on my side. Maybe just me though.

52:50
That’s ok, I can go with the group’s choice 🙂

53:33
The question on frequency of meetings is dependent on the nature of collaboration. Is it about sharing of information or influencing each other in substantive ways or integrated work planning? Those are listed in rough order of increasing need for meeting more frequently.

57:36
Quarterly is fine, I think.

57:51
That's a vote switch for me.

58:07
Good. Thank you

amoxy and genta, nice subject

01:05:21
*the registration link will be shared soon via email with all subgroup members (not on the website quite yet)

01:05:46
The link we provided for your online events will be open for whoever want to present/disseminate/share their work/lessons learnt through our sub-group or Child Health Task Force.

01:07:10
Results for Development are wrapping up an amox study - are you connected to their work?

01:07:29
Great!

01:19:13
Thank you for sharing this. The anomaly in pricing is disruptive. Local programs fail to see the need to buy co-packs which are more expensive than buying ORS and Zinc separately

01:19:36

01:20:34
Lessons learned from the ORSZCA are relevant to ensuring availability of other child health commodities e.g. awareness or lack of awareness among child health stakeholders of the issues hindering access and appropriate use, discrepancy between policy and practice, etc.

01:21:58
Thanks for the great presentations from GHSC and the copack alliance! Can presenters share slides after the call?

01:22:16
Thanks for organizing the meeting - it was time that this group reconvene given the importance of the topic. Congrats

01:22:20
Yes, the presentation and recording will be shared on the Task Force website!

01:23:39
On co-pack pricing - all studies we have found and in our own experience, co-packs are cheaper that buying the recommended treatment (ORS+Zinc). The UNICEF catalogue is an anomaly.

01:24:30
Assumpta Muriithi - WHO/AFRO. My apology for joining late- was in another meeting. Hope to receive the meeting recording.

01:24:44
Congenital heart anomalies are a major cause of child death - 174,000 per year says GBD - neglected. Need to change this.

01:25:00
It is fantastic that UNICEF are now retendering for ORS and Zinc products

registering any event you may want the group to work on

01:28:13
OK that’s clear - thanks Dyness.

01:28:15
Thank you, Leith. CHD is very much a problem, especially affecting newborn and infant mortality - 70% of those deaths

01:28:21
Apologies I need to drop off. Thanks everyone.

01:28:26
Our sub-group is looking at all the dimensions of ACCESS, some could be supply chain related, some could be more on programmatic/demand level, but all that can affect ACCESS could be considered in this group. Our sub-group could not be confused with just procurement and supply chains

01:29:22
@Bistra CHD is 70% of newborn and infant deaths?? Source??

01:30:32
No, 70% of all CHD deaths are in under 1 year of life. Sorry for the confusion :)

01:31:22
Thank you very much.
