Do you use grant funds to pay for the 6 CTE Credits?

Couldn't WIOA funds be used for the 6 CTE credits?

In Wisconsin we allow AEFLA funds to be used, but usually as funding of last resort. We work with WIOA partners for some students' funding, we work with foundations for some others, but for many students the 6 credits' cost is a huge hurdle, and so we are waiting to get final approval on a state-approved process that will take the 6-credit cost out of the equation.

Yes - WIOA title I funds can be used. Your program needs to be on the Eligible Training Provider List (ETPL) in order for your title I partner to co-invest

Is the navigator employed by the institutions of higher education

@Alexis - yes

@Shauna - yes both with and without HSD. Obviously on non-HSD folks use the ATB provision

@Mary, yes Mississippi initially had a grant to pay for the 6 CTE credits.

How do you assess college readiness for the 6 CTEs without the Accuplacer?

How are the 6 credits defined? In Minnesota, a learner will receive credit for taking developmental education courses, however, these are not at the college-level. If a learner has 6 credits in developmental education can they leverage ABT?

Judy - any movement on all the required tests that students have to take?? TABE or state required adult ed test, Acuuplacer classic and accuplacer next gen. Three tests! and the GED or HSE test for diploma!

@Heather Hudson - good question. I have never seen any time limit for completing the 6 credits.

@Julie Dincau - the credits must be for-credit coursework the can count toward a credential - not remedial or dev ed, unfortunately

Shauna - technically, there are no states with an approved state-defined ATB process. As you heard Scott mention, WI is past the ED deadline for approval and so they believe they may soon be the first!

@Seyon Washington — the college does not need to list the program as a “career pathway program” in the catalog for the program to qualify for ATB. Colleges only need to maintain documentation, in the event of a financial aid audit or program review, that shows how the program meets the federal definition of career pathway program

@Shauna Yes, MIBEST serve students with and without a HSE. We have a 80 - 20 clause...80% of MIBEST students must be students without a HSE and 20% can be students with a HSE.
